Setup guide

Live in about 30 minutes. No call needed.

This is the whole install, start to finish. Work the steps in order; each one links to the exact screen in the app where it happens. The admin keeps a setup checklist too, so you can always see what is done and what is left.

  1. Install the app 2 min

Install Makewright from the Shopify App Store and approve the app permissions. Billing starts with a 14-day trial, so nothing is charged while you set up.

    Install from the App Store
  2. Set your launch defaults 1 min

Tell Makewright your brand name and where quote notifications should go. This is the email address your shop hears about first.

    Open launch defaults
  3. Pick your first product 1 min

Choose one representative made-to-order product to start with. Launch it end to end before adding the rest of your catalog.

    Choose a product
  4. Start from a starter template 10 min

Templates hold the choices a shopper can make: options, measurements, materials, and finishes. Start from a starter close to your product, then edit the fields into the order a customer should answer them.

    Browse starter templates
  5. Set pricing and routing 10 min

Decide what each choice costs and which configurations check out directly versus becoming a quote for your review. Standard builds go straight to checkout. Anything unusual becomes a quote you approve, collect a deposit on, and turn into a production spec sheet.

    Open pricing rules
  6. Assign the template to your product 1 min

Connect the published template to your Shopify product. This is what tells the storefront to show the configurator on that product page.

    Assign products
  7. Add the app block to your theme 2 min

In the theme editor, add the Makewright Configurator app block to your product template. No code. If your theme is vintage, the app will tell you and show the manual snippet instead.

    Check theme setup
  8. Test both paths 5 min

Run one configuration all the way to checkout and submit one quote request the way a customer would. Both should work before you tell anyone the configurator exists.

Stuck on a step?

The troubleshooting section of the docs covers the common snags: block not showing, prices not updating, quotes not arriving. If the docs do not answer it, email hi@gunnargray.com with your store domain and the step you are on.

What happens after launch

New quote requests land in the app inbox. Approve them into draft orders, collect a deposit, and print the production spec sheet for the shop floor. When you are ready for product two, repeat steps 3 through 6. It gets faster every time.
