Shopify quotes · Deposits and balances
For made-to-order work, Makewright lets your team approve a quote, invoice an upfront deposit and request the remaining balance later. Each payment happens through a separate Shopify draft-order invoice.
Illustrative amount split
This example uses an agreed $2,000 total and a 50% deposit. It is a demonstration, not a customer order. Review tax and shipping details on each Shopify invoice before sending.
The merchant controls approval and invoice timing. Shopify reports payment.
Open the quote, check its specification and save the agreed total. Set a whole-number deposit between 5% and 90%.
Approval creates the deposit draft order. Send its Shopify invoice to the customer. Approval and email delivery do not mean the deposit is paid.
When Shopify reports payment, Makewright records the deposit and moves the quote to Deposit paid. The deposit percentage is then locked.
When you are ready, choose Create balance order. You need a paid deposit, the Deposit paid state, an eligible plan and a positive remaining amount. Send the separate invoice for the customer to pay.
Shopify’s paid update for the final balance moves the quote to Converted. Open the production spec sheet from the quote detail to print the configuration, quantities, file references, notes and payment state for your workshop.
Your team decides when work starts. A production sheet or completed job does not automatically collect a balance; check your own production prerequisites and Shopify payment state.

Plan fit
Growth is $49/month for 50 active configured products and 250 quote requests per month. Pro is $99/month with unlimited configured products and quote requests. An eligible Growth trial also includes deposits.
Starter supports a full-price quote invoice and printable documents. Deposit and balance-stage draft orders require Growth or Pro.
No. You create and send a separate Shopify balance invoice, and the customer pays it. This is not financing, escrow or an automatic charge to a saved card.
The deposit percentage is locked once payment is recorded. Before payment, re-approving updated terms updates the existing draft order.
Check that Shopify has reported the deposit paid, the quote is in Deposit paid, your plan supports deposits and a positive balance remains.
No. It is a printable handoff document for your team. Production links expire after seven days; reopen the quote detail for a fresh link.
